Document

Photograph the door, springs, tracks and opener before anything is repaired, if it is safe.
Note when the damage started and whether a storm, impact or normal use was involved.
Keep receipts for emergency repairs and anything you replace.

Claim

Notify your insurer as your policy requires. A garage door technician can describe the damage and the work done; they do not replace your claim or give legal advice.
